The Aerospace Integrated Research & Test Centre (AIRTeC) is a £40 million state of the art facility designed specifically to provide the most advanced working environment and tools for Airbus, suppliers, partners, and academia.
Co-funded by Airbus and the UK Government via the Aerospace Technology Institute, the facility is unique to Europe. AIRTeC complements the world leading design, integration, manufacturing and assembly capabilities which already exist on Filton site. Reinforcing the South West as a major global aerospace hub.
Inside the AIRTeC main test facility weighing an impressive 220 tonnes is the Airbus ‘Strong Wall.’ At 14 metres long, 10 metres high and 4.5 metres deep, the Strong Wall helps enable the development of the next generation of aircraft by testing full-scale wings. Flexible and adaptable, the modular testing equipment can be configured for each test, instead of designing and building custom test rigs each time. It is designed to allow a faster and cheaper test design and setup, while supporting a full reuse philosophy.
Through our AIRTeC facility in the U.K, Airbus has developed one of the largest and most complete set of qualification testing capabilities and services in Europe. Our airframer knowledge and expertise puts us at the forefront of testing and qualifying new product innovations in the Aerospace industry. However our testing capabilities are also available for use across Construction, Consumer Product, Defense, Energy and Transportation sectors.
From major components and systems within the next generation aircraft & spacecraft; the latest product innovations within the emerging UAM sector or even the latest developments in Autonomous Vehicle, Airbus works in partnership with all its customers providing access to some of the worlds most advanced testing technologies.
